Simple Way To Add Text To Pictures - Art

This is the time of year I start thinking about my indoor projects and activates that relate to the upcoming holiday season. One such project I will most likely be focusing on is my home made greeting e-cards that I make and send to family and friends online. Last fall while driving with a friend around dusk in late October, I snapped a few pictures of the beautiful foliage of yellow and red and orange that was absolutely brilliant. When I got home and downloaded them I decided to take it a step further. The pictures were so incredible I wanted to send them to family and friends. Being in a festive mood and creative one too I took one of the pictures of a huge tree with yellow leaves. I put at the base of the tree in large orange text Happy Thanksgiving. I turned out great and I sent them out and got a lot of compliments. The text looked as though it was part of the picture and looked professionally type set.

Here is a simple way to add text to pictures that gives your photos a finished and professional look without needing fancy software such as PhotoShop. What I used was an average accessory that most people overlook and have on their computer:

USING PAINT IN WINDOWS 1. POINT TO DESIRED PICTURE AND RIGHT CLICK TO COPY.2. NAVIGATE TO START-ALL PROGRAMS-ACCESSORIES-DOUBLE-CLICK ON PAINT.3. AFTER SCREEN APPEARS GO TO TOOLBAR AND EDIT THEN PASTE. PICTURE WILL POP UP IN UPPER LEFT CORNER. 4. HOLD DOWN LEFT BUTTON ON MOUSE POINT TO PICTURE AND MOVE IT TO THE CENTER.5. GO TO THE TOP OF TOOLBAR UNDER IMAGE AND CLICK ONCE AT THE BOTTOM ON DRAW OPAQUE.6. NAVIGATE TO THE LEFT TOOLBAR COLUMN AND CLICK ON THE LETTER "A" FOR THE TEXT OPTION.7. AT THE BOTTOM CHOOSE THE COLOR YOU WANT FROM THE PALLET BY CLICKING ON IT.8.WITH YOUR MOUSE CHOOSE A SPOT ON THE PICTURE THAT YOU WANT TO PUT THE CAPTION. IT WILL LOOK LIKE A CROSS. ONCE YOU HAVE LOCATED A SPOT CLICK ONCE, A RECTANGLE BOX WILL APPEAR. TAKE YOUR MOUSE AND ELONGATE THE BOX BY DRAGGING IT TO THE RIGHT.9. THE BOX IS NOW READY FOR A CAPTION AND THERE SHOULD BE A CURSOR BLINKING TO THE FAR LEFT. GO TO THE TOP TOOLBAR CHOOSE YOUR FONT. IT'S BEST TO USE LARGE PRINT 20 POINT TYPE IS PREFERRED.10. HERE IS WHERE YOU CAN EXPERIMENT WITH DIFFERENT COLORS. WHEN THE CHOICE HAS BEEN MADE CENTER THE CAPTION TO BALANCE WELL WITH THE PICTURE. CLICK ONCE OUTSIDE BOX TO MAKE PERMANENT..11. THE CAPTION IS NOW INCORPORATED. NAVIGATE TO TOP TOOL BAR UNDER FILE CLICK ON SAVE AS AND NAME YOUR PICTURE AND THEN SAVE IT.12. MINUS OUT THE PAINT SCREEN AND NAVIGATE TO START AND DOUBLE CLICK ON MY PICTURES. LOCATE YOUR PICTURE AND POINT AND RIGHT CLICK AND GO TO OPEN WITH THERE WILL BE 3 CHOICES CHOOSE JASC PAINT SHOP AND TWICE CLICK. YOUR PICTURE WILL APPEAR.13. NAVIGATE TO THE TOP TOOLBAR UNDER IMAGE AND CLICK ON CROP. CROP OUT THE WHITE SPACE AROUND YOUR PICTURE AND HIT OK. THIS PREVENTS ANY EXCESS BAGGAGE AROUND THE PICTURE WHEN ITS TRANSPORTED TO ITS FINAL DESTINATION.14. THE PICTURE IS NOW READY TO GO. EITHER PRINT FROM HERE OR GO TO TOP TOOLBAR UNDER EDIT AND COPY AND THEN PASTE INTO E-MAIL, ETC.USING MICROSOFT WORD1. COPY DESIRED PICTURE.2. NAVIGATE TO S TART AND CLICK ON MICROSOFT WORD.3. RIGHT CLICK ON WHITE SPACE AND PASTE PICTURE.4. RIGHT CLICK ON PICTURE AND CLICK ON CAPTION. A BOX WILL POP UP THAT HAS AN AREA THAT SAYS FIGURE 1 AND POSITION. POSITION SHOULD BE BELOW AND NEXT TO WHERE IT SAYS FIG 1 TYPE YOUR CAPTION THEN HIT OK.5. THE CAPTION WILL APPEAR UNDER THE PICTURE. YOU'LL NEED TO DELETE THE FIG 1 AND THEN CENTER CAPTION UNDER PICTURE. EITHER SAVE PICTURE, PRINT IT OR EXPORT TO OTHER PLACE.

This is also a great way to add text to vacation pictures with fun captions or sayings or as a way to inform. Most people would never think of putting text on a picture but it comes in handy for a lot of different projects. By using the accessories that come with your computer you can be creative and not have to spend a fortune on software that you have to download and you use it infrequently and it just takes up space.

By using this simple way to add text to pictures you'll find your photos more appealing and useful. Above all else, share your pictures and photos and make them fun. Whether it's for a school project, creative project, layout class or whatever, a picture is at least worth a couple words.
