Three Fundamental Factors In Mastering Macro Photography - Hobbies - Photography

Photography has been a popular fascination among many people today especially the field of macro photography. It's quite a distinctive category of photography that is mostly used in a photography contest entries. Macro mode entries have a higher possibility in winning a photo contest if it's good enough for the judges. Anyways, being the winner in a photo contest doesn't really depend on what category you've used unless there is a required category. However, in this article, we will be talking more about macro photography since a huge number of beginners are into macro mode.

There have been so many mind boggling things about photography for those who are still starting; but as long as you know how to manipulate the basic techniques, you'll surely get better and eventually create your own system. Choosing macro photography for your picture contest entry is most likely accompanied by blurriness. Most amateurs who join a picture contest are most likely to fail once blurriness is not handled properly. Intentional blurriness must complement the subject being the focal point. Make it a point that the subject of interest is much more distinct with the help of the blurry background and not the background distracting it. Judges in a photography contest are very intricate when it comes to this matter so you have to take every precaution.

Focus is another thing to consider in macro photography. Auto focus is very hard to use when using a macro lens so most photographers who join a picture contest preferred the manual focus. The technique used for manual focus is to adjust your head either moves close or away from the center of interest. In this way, the photographer will have the total control in pointing out the focus and controlling the depth of field rather than using the focus rings of the camera. Lighting is another factor that is very delicate in macro photography. There are two common kind of lighting used in most entries in a photography contest which are reflectors and ring lights. Reflectors make use of the natural light in the surrounding area. It can either be some object, the subject, and tin foil. Ring lights on the other hand are usually attached around the camera lens for illumination.

Therefore, for a beginner to have a bright future in macro photography and win a photo contest, he or she must master how to produce complementary blurriness, determine the correct lighting to use, and to manipulate the manual focus.
