Digital Photo Frames and Photoshop - Technology - Electronics

Photo editing is an important step when you are preparing to load your pictures onto your digital photo frame. Photoshop is widely regarded as one of the best photo editing software packages available on the market. However, it does not have the same reputation for being very easily understood. Here are a few tips that make picture editing with Photoshop a little easier. Three common problems that people often have with their images are over/underexposed photos, blurry photos, or pictures where the subjects have red eyes.

Editing Over or Underexposed Photos

If you have an under or overexposed image, you can use the Brightness and Contrast tool to help correct minor issues. For example, if the picture is slightly too dark try increasing the brightness and the contrast. Nonetheless, most people prefer using the levels tool when brightening a photo. First, you need to add a new layer to your image (an adjustment layer), and then you need to select the levels adjustment layer from the list. Once you have a new Levels layer, you need to change the blend mode to Screen. The original setting is Normal. Adding more Screen adjustment layers will continue to lighten the image.

You can also simply open the levels tool without adding any layers to your photograph. Once the tool is open try adjusting the sliders. Simply, move these sliders around until you like the way the picture looks.

Correcting Blurry Photos

Blurry photos are some of the hardest images to correct, and your picture is hopelessly blurry, you should discard it rather than displaying it on your digital photo frame. Photoshop does have a Sharpen tool (brush) where you can correct small parts of the picture. You can adjust both the size and the strength of this tool. Another easy fix is to choose the Unsharp Mask filter and lay it over your photo. This will make the overall photo slightly sharper.

Fixing Red Eye Photos

Removing red eyes with Photoshop is an easy fix, and it will definitely make your photos on your digital photo frame look much better. The easiest way to remove red eye from your photos is to use Photoshop's Red Eye Tool. Select this tool, make a box over the offending eye and release. The tool will take care of the rest. While there are more complex ways to remove red eye, this is the easiest and works well for anyone doing basic photo editing.

Once you have taken care of these three main problems, you might also want to consider resizing your photos, so that more of them fit on the frame. You can also crop your photos in Photoshop so that any unwanted parts of the photo can be removed. Photo editing is a very important step if you are personalizing the frame as a gift. By taking the time to edit your photos before loading them onto your digital photo frame, you will ensure that your pictures look as good as possible.
